Richard Dawson - Deer Shed Festival 2025 - silkscreen concert poster
£30.00
Screenprinted poster for Richard Dawson's performance at Deer Shed Festival, North Yorkshire, 2025.
I love Rich's way of capturing the absurdity, gravitas and wonder of seemingly ordinary moments in life, often very specific little British vignettes and rituals - putting the kettle on; drizzly Sunday league football matches; walking to the corner shop to buy the papers; pottering in the garden, etc.
Gardens and allotments often pop up in his songs, so I set about designing the least rock n roll poster of all time by drawing a relaxed depiction of a sleepy allotment and it's associated bits and pieces.
Then I received the following brilliant feedback from Richard:
"Needs a goblin."
I was very pleased with this response and happy to oblige.
A very ordinary looking scene but with something a bit weird and dischordant going on in the fringes, just a slight sense of something being fantastical... I think that ends up being a perfect summary of Rich's wonderful music and storytelling.
I printed these myself, 4 colours, at a slightly smaller than A2 size (52 x 36cm), in a very limited numbered edition of 40. Signed and numbered at the bottom.
There is exactly *one* goblin hidden in the allotment and if you happen to spot any more, then that's on you.
