Shop Policies
Thanks for visiting the AoC/Shop.
PAYMENT:
Payment is accepted via PayPal, however you do not need to have a PayPal account in order to make a transaction. If you would prefer to pay by alternative means, such as Pound Sterling cheque, please drop me a line.
SHIPPING & RETURNS:
All posters are shipped rolled in sturdy tubes using Royal Mail first class post (for orders within the UK), or standard Air Mail (for international orders).
Items are usually shipped within 1 week of the order being received. If you have special shipping requirements - such as insurance, next day shipping, tracking numbers, use of carrier pigeon, etc - please contact me to discuss and we can work something out.
I have yet to hear from an irreversibly unhappy AoC/Shop customer! However, in the unlikely event that your poster or print arrives damaged, I would be happy to discuss how we can rectify the situation to your satisfaction - please contact me post haste!
THE NATURE OF THE SCREENPRINTED BEAST:
The 'hand made' nature of silkscreen printing means that every print is a unique piece of art, right down to its tiny imperfections. However, I never include mis-prints in an edition, nor do I ship any prints which I do not think are up to the standard of the rest of the run or which I would not be happy to display on my own wall.
All of my prints are printed on good-standard card or art paper, usually around 250/300gsm in weight. Some posters with heavy print coverage may have a slight 'warping' to the substrate where a lot of ink has absorbed in - this can usually be fixed by flattening (see below) and will likely not even be noticable once framed.
Posters will sometimes stay rolled after they have been shipped. Never attempt to flatten out a poster by rolling it back on itself as this will result in damage and creasing. The best way to flatten a poster is simply to lay it out flat, arched side up, and use some heavy books to keep it in place. After a couple of days the poster should flatten out naturally and be ready to hang or frame.
Screenprinted art is not indestructable and requires your care! Prints can fade or be damaged if kept in moist environments or if exposed to too much direct sunlight. In order to enjoy your art for many years, AoC recommends posters be professionally framed to archival standards, or kept in an airtight plan-chest only to be opened and looked at on special occasions.
The vast majority of people who purchase my work end up very happy with their new art purchases (which, in turn, sincerely makes me very happy) but every now and again someone chooses to be a bit of a jerk and complain because they thought they were purchasing something other than what I describe my work to be.
I go out of my way to try and make clients and customers happy, but in an effort to avoid grievances before they happen, for the avoidance of any doubt: my work is printed by hand and is therefore flawed. Usually quite imperceptibly so, but flawed nonetheless.
If the idea of tiny ink spots, marks, or smudges which are part of a hand-made process bother you then purchase at your own risk or not at all!
I have a huge appreciation for the screenprinted medium and own countless prints by lots of amazing artists and designers, many of which are far from pristine but which are loved nonetheless. If you can get behind that, they you'll get on with screenprinted art just fine. That's the spirit!
THE MEANING OF SOLD OUT:
When a poster or print is maked as 'Sold Out' this means that the batch I have put to one side for online sales is sold out. I may well still have some stock left which will be displayed and sold at exhibitions or similar events. Exhibitions like Flatstock, Poster Roast and Screenadelica are the best places to find my work that is sold out online.
